CASE STUDY
When professional migration advice makes all the difference

Our client had applied for a Visitor visa for a work associate, but experienced unusual delays with the processing.

Challenge

  • A client had attempted to apply for a Visitor visa on their own so that an overseas work associate could attend a meeting in Sydney. The expected processing time was a short 1 to 3 days.
  • However, they experienced delays in the processing due to irregularities in the application. Days before the associate was due to arrive in Australia, the visa had still not been finalised.
  • The client contacted us urgently for help.

Solution

  • After a thorough investigation, we identified the following issues: The applicant had declared a criminal offence in the application, and our client had applied for the visa under the wrong stream (they had applied under the Tourist stream instead of the Business Visitor stream, which enables the visa holder to undertake business activities).
  • Having identified and explained these issues to our client, we then helped them to lodge a new application.
  • We ensured the correct visa stream was applied for, addressed the character issues with supporting documents, and withdrew the initial application.

Results

The visa was granted swiftly, and our client’s work associate was able to carry out their business.
How we can help

  • We provide accurate and comprehensive advice, saving clients significant time and minimising delays in visa applications.
  • A key takeaway is to never assume visa grant is guaranteed. Decisions such as resigning from work, relocation, or as in this case making travel arrangements, should not be taken without having first obtained a visa grant.
