Working Holiday Makers can work unrestricted until 30 June 2023

Working Holiday (Subclass 417) and Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa holders can work for any employer with no restrictions until 1 July 2023.

Normally under Condition 8547, working holiday makers can only work for the same employer for a limited 6-month period. However, this 6-month limitation was temporarily relaxed – initially until 31 December 2022, but the concession has been further extended until 30 June 2023.

This means anyone in Australia who either:

  • holds any kind of Working Holiday Maker (WHM) visa, regardless of when they arrive, or
  • holds a Bridging visa with Condition 8547 imposed

can work for the same employer for the duration of their visa without requesting permission.

Any work carried out before 1 July 2023 will not be counted towards the 6-month limitation period, ie. from 1 July 2023, WHM visa holders can work for any employer for up to an additional 6 months, even if they worked for that same employer before 1 July 2023.
